Create a Lens when you want customer data arranged around the moment you are in. Build one for the details you need during a working session, and another for a bird's eye view of a customer population. In My Workspace, you choose the Frames, layout, and sharing that fit each view.
Create a Lens
- Open My Workspace.
- Under My Lenses, select New Lens.
- Enter a name and description that make the Lens easy to recognize.
- Set Scope to General Lens.
- Select Create.
Select General Lens for a Lens built in My Workspace. You cannot change the Scope after you create it.
Add Frames
Frames are the cards that make up a Lens. In the builder, the action for adding one is labeled Add Card.
- Open Lens actions, then select Edit Layout.
- Select Add Card.
- Choose a Frame category, then select the type you want to build.
Choose a Frame Category
Start with the kind of view you want the Frame to provide.
| Category | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Narrative | Create text based insights, including AI summaries and recommendations when those options are available to you. |
| Visualization | Turn a metric or comparison into a KPI Card, gauge, or chart. |
| Table | Show records and fields in rows and columns when people need the detail behind the view. |
Configure the Content Tab
The Content tab tells the Frame what data to show. The controls change based on the Frame type you selected.
- Enter a clear Module name. This becomes the Frame title on the Lens.
- Open Frame Data Scope.
- Choose the Primary Object the Frame should use.
- Select one or more Segments if you want to narrow the records included in the Frame.
- Configure the data for the Frame. Depending on the type, you may choose a metric, aggregation, format, grouping, or the fields to include.
- Select Generate Preview to see how the Frame will look with your data.
- When the preview looks right, select Add to Dashboard.
Style Each Frame
Open the Style tab while you are creating a Frame, or select Style on a Frame that is already on the Lens. The choices change with the Frame type and can include:
- A description and color accent
- A Compact, Standard, or Wide card size
- Data labels, a legend, or a section title style
Arrange and Style the Lens
Once your Frames are in place, shape the Lens around how your team will use it.
- Drag Frames to reorder them. Resize a Frame from its lower right corner.
- Select Add Label to break the Lens into clear sections.
- Use Bleed edges and Round corners to change how the Frames sit on the page.
- Select Background to choose the color behind the Lens. If you give a Frame its own color accent, that color overrides the Lens background for that Frame and sits on top of it.
- Open Settings to update the Lens name or description.
Select Save when the Lens is ready. Select Discard if you want to leave the current edits without saving them.
Set Visibility and Permissions
Use sharing controls to decide who can open or edit the Lens.
- Open Lens actions, then select Share.
- Choose a visibility:
- Private: Only you can access the Lens.
- Specific team members: Add the people who need access, then choose Can View or Can Edit for each person.
- Public: Everyone in your organization can view the Lens.
- Select Save Changes.
