Connect Snowflake to Odie so your customer data can become part of the Odie Customer Knowledge Graph. This connection authorizes Odie to access Snowflake. It does not begin importing data.
After you authenticate, our Activation team will contact you and guide the ingestion setup. Together, you will decide which data to bring in, how it maps to Odie, and how often it should refresh.
Before You Start
Have the following information ready:
- A Snowflake administrator who can update the user used for the connection.
- Your Snowflake account identifier and username.
- The warehouse, database, schema, and role Odie should use.
- A dedicated Snowflake user and role with access to the data you plan to bring into Odie.
Create the Snowflake Connection
- In Odie, open Settings > Integrations.
- Select Add a Connection.
- Find Snowflake, then select Connect.
- Enter the connection details:
- Connection name: A name your team will recognize.
- Warehouse: The Snowflake warehouse Odie should use.
- Database: The database that contains the source data.
- Schema: The schema that contains the tables or views you plan to use.
- Role: The Snowflake role assigned to the connection user.
- Select Create connector.
Odie creates a secure key pair and displays the public key and its fingerprint. Odie manages the private key for you.
Add the Public Key in Snowflake
- Copy the public key from Odie.
- In Snowflake, assign the public key to the dedicated user for this connection.
ALTER USER <user_name> SET RSA_PUBLIC_KEY='<public_key>';
You can also copy the fingerprint to confirm that the key in Snowflake matches the key shown in Odie.
Authenticate the Connection
- Return to the Snowflake connection in Odie.
- Select Authenticate.
- Enter your Snowflake account identifier and username.
- Complete authentication. Odie validates the account, user, role, warehouse, database, and schema.
What Happens Next
Our Activation team will contact you to complete the ingestion setup. They will work with you to:
- Choose the schemas, tables, and views Odie should use.
- Map your source data to Odie objects and properties.
- Confirm the keys and relationships that connect your customer data.
- Set the refresh schedule and decide how new and updated records should be handled.
- Validate the data before ongoing ingestion begins.
Manage the Connection
Open Settings > Integrations, select the Snowflake connection, then open Connection Settings. From there, you can:
- Update the warehouse, database, schema, or role.
- Copy the public key or fingerprint.
- Rotate the key.
- Authenticate again when the connection details or key change.
FAQs
Does authentication start importing data?
No. Authentication confirms that Odie can connect to Snowflake. Your Activation team will guide the ingestion and configuration work before data begins flowing into Odie.
Do I need to upload a private key?
No. Odie creates and manages the private key. You only add the public key shown in Odie to the Snowflake user.
What happens if I rotate the key?
Odie creates a new public key and waits for you to update the Snowflake user. Add the new key in Snowflake, then authenticate the connection again.
