Manage a segment

Who can use this feature?

  • Unison admins can create and manage segments.

Open a saved segment to review its members, update its details or criteria, organize it in a folder, or delete it when you no longer need it.

Review segment members

  1. Go to Operations > Segments.
  2. Find the segment and select Open.
  3. Review the total members and the records in the Members table.
  4. Use Search to find a record. For Account segments, you can also select Filter to narrow the table.
  5. Select Table options > Manage Columns to show, hide, or reset the columns in the table.

Search, filters, and column choices only change the member table. They do not change the segment criteria.

Update the name or purpose

To rename a segment quickly:

  1. Open the segment.
  2. Select the segment name at the top of the page and enter a new name.
  3. Press Enter or select anywhere outside the name field to save it.

To update the name and purpose together:

  1. Open the segment and select Segment actions > Edit.
  2. Update the Segment Name or Purpose.
  3. Select Save Changes.
You cannot change the Primary Object after you create the segment. Create a new segment if you need to use a different Primary Object.

Update segment criteria

  1. Open the segment and select Edit Criteria.
  2. Add, remove, or update rules and groups.
  3. Select Preview Changes.
  4. Review the preview, then select Save Changes.

Saving new criteria changes which records belong to the segment.

Saved segment membership is reevaluated hourly. A record that changed recently can take up to an hour to appear in or leave the member table.

Organize segments with folders

To create a folder:

  1. Go to Operations > Segments.
  2. Select New > New Folder.
  3. Enter a name and create the folder.

To move one segment:

  1. Select More actions for the segment.
  2. Select Move to folder, then choose the destination.

To move several segments at once:

  1. Select More actions > Bulk changes.
  2. Select the segments you want to move.
  3. Select Move to folder, then choose the destination.

Delete a segment

  1. Open the segment and select Segment actions > Delete.
  2. Enter DELETE to confirm.
  3. Select Delete.
Deleting a segment is permanent. It cannot be restored.

FAQs

Question: Why do I not see the Filter option for a segment?

Answer: Additional member table filters are available for Account segments. Use Search to find records in other segment types.

Question: Do member table filters change who belongs to the segment?

Answer: No. Search, filters, and column choices only change the table you are viewing. Update the segment criteria to change membership.
